Rights of the Consumer
You pay the premium, so you should have the final say!
Your insurance company does not want you to contact us first, but you should!
We will fix your car RIGHT the first time and on TIME. What insurance company could possibly disagree with that?
Even if your insurance company may be your "nice neighbor" and "on your side," and you may feel like you're "in good hands" with them, you should never forget that they are in the business of earning a profit, which means they may not have your best interests at heart after an accident. You may believe that phoning your insurance provider first is the best course of action, but this may not be the best course of action in some cases.
We recommend that you first contact City Collision Service. Typically, insurance packages allow you to select the mechanic who will work on your vehicle. If you have an accident, insurance companies will often gloss over this and make it appear as if there is no other option by providing you with a list of repair shops, as if they were the only ones you could call. However, because it is your car, you have the option to select. It is important not to make the mistake of allowing your insurance company to take complete control of the entire repair procedure, even if it appears to be an appealing notion at the time when you just want to put the whole issue behind you.
Your car is an investment; don't let it depreciate in value! At City Collision Service of Hillsdale, Michigan, we can handle any and all of your automotive needs...just give us a call first!
What Exactly is Steering?
Following an automobile accident, your insurance company may attempt to steer you toward a specific repair shop with which they have a contractual relationship. When it comes to their own interests, insurance firms frequently combine with repair shops at the expense of the policyholder. As a result of this agreement, the repair company saves money for the insurance carrier by lowering the quality of the work performed. In exchange, the insurance company provides transportation for auto body shop customers to their repair facilities. Steering is the term used to describe this immoral, but regrettably all-too-common, conduct.
Remain Confident in Your Selection
Allowing insurance firms to take advantage of your situation is not recommended. After an accident, you have the right to seek repair services from a reputable company you can rely on. If you don't know anyone who knows a trustworthy repair shop, ask around for referrals from relatives and friends, or ask your local dealer for a referral. Once you have located a reputable and trustworthy repair business, you should tell your insurance provider of the location where the repairs will be performed. Maintain command of your position and make certain that your vehicle is receiving the finest possible attention.
The Right Shop for You
In addition to providing a lifetime warranty on all of its bodywork, a quality repair shop should also provide a minimum five-year warranty on all of its refinishing. Instead of using counterfeit or aftermarket components, repair shops should use new original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts. Choose an establishment that has no affiliations with insurance companies or that has been highly recommended by somebody you know directly. If you receive an estimate from another shop that is much lower than yours, proceed with caution. These low pricing frequently result in a reduction in the overall quality of the service.

Very professional and friendly. My insurance company was less than ideal to work with, but he didn't let that get in the way of doing the best possible job for me. The most important part, his work was top notch quality and was done in a better time frame then I could have imagined!

It was great to see what Bryan is doing and moving forward, just to bad that he had to move for more room, but glad for him. Gary and Cork would be proud of him.

Very professional, communicated well, worked great with the insurance adjuster. And most importantly, the job done was quality.
